Turso / libSQL

Pro

Turso is a hosted database service that uses libSQL, a fork of SQLite. DevDb connects to Turso databases and to other libSQL servers, for example a local sqld.

Automatic detection

DevDb finds a Turso database in:

  • .env: a database URL in TURSO_DATABASE_URL, TURSO_DB_URL, LIBSQL_URL or DATABASE_URL, and an auth token in TURSO_AUTH_TOKEN, TURSO_DB_AUTH_TOKEN, LIBSQL_AUTH_TOKEN or DATABASE_AUTH_TOKEN.
  • A drizzle.config file with dialect: 'turso'.

Example .env:

ini
TURSO_DATABASE_URL=libsql://my-db-my-org.turso.io
TURSO_AUTH_TOKEN=eyJhbGciOi...

Add a connection

  1. Under Remote Connections, click Add, then select Turso / libSQL.
  2. Enter the details:
FieldDescription
Database URLA libsql://, https:// or http:// URL
Auth TokenThe auth token of the database. Leave it empty for a local sqld without authentication.
  1. Click Test, then click Connect.

Create a token with the Turso CLI (turso db tokens create <database>) or in the Turso dashboard. DevDb keeps the token in the secret storage of your editor.

MCP

MCP queries on libSQL are read-only unless Devdb.mcp.allowWrites is on.
